Subsequent to the summons of NEC Act in December, 2002 (Notified on 23rd June, 2003) Sikkim was widow as 8th Member State, and NEC was mandated to function as a statutory Regional PlanningSoulfor the North Eastern Region. The Council comprises of Governors and Chief Ministers of plug-in States and three members to be nominated by the President as per Clasus (iii) of Section 3 of the North Eastern Council (Amendment) Act, 1971. The Union Home Minsiter is ex-officio Chairman and the MoS(IC) DoNER is the ex-officio Vice-Chairman of the NEC. Activities MDoNER is responsible for the matters relating to the planning, execution and monitoring of minutiae schemes and projects in the NE region. About North East Northeast India is the eastern-most region of India. It comprises eight states "€" the first-hand Seven Sister States, and the Himalayan state of Sikkim.
